Thread: '79 GP Driveshaft Length

    Post '79 GP Driveshaft Length

Anyone know the length of a '79 GP driveshaft weld to weld? I have one 1.5 inches shorter than stock; will I be ok if I use this? It appears there is more than enough yoke to move in and out of the trans etc.

That sounds a little too short, but if you can check that there will never be less than 1" of spline engagement at all times you will be OK. But the stock drive shaft is very weak and behind a 455 won't last for long if the tires get any bite.

    Default 79 GP Driveshaft Length

HelloDoes anyone know the length of a full-size wagon driveshaft. I have a 1986 Buick Electra Estate Wagon 307, th200-4r and Im having this problem: see picture. The rear axle is where its supposed to be and the engine mounts are fine. So I need to see if the driveshaft is the wrong one or not.Any ideas on how this happens if it is the right driveshaft?
